GROUNDBREAKING FOR A NEW HOUSE OF GOD’S CHURCH AT ST. PAUL’S

The Words of Bishop Estevez on Friday, June 7th, 2019

“Today this parish begins significant next steps for its future as we break ground for a new house for God’s Church for the people of St. Paul’s – a new house where the Father will gather his faithful people around the table of His Beloved Son.  Here the faithful will come to celebrate the Eucharist, the young will be baptized, young people will receive Confirmation, people will seek reconciliation with God, many will be united in Holy Matrimony, candidates and catechumen will be joined to the Church, and it will be the place where many will be mourned and commended to the Lord.  The work we are beginning today should enliven our faith and make us grateful.  We know the familiar words of Psalm 127: ‘Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build.’  Whenever we look to the interests of our neighbor or the community and serve them, we are, in a sense, God’s own co-workers.  Let us pray for his help through this celebration, that God will bring this construction to successful completion and that his protection will keep those who work on it safe from injury.”
